My Story

Below I have added some personal info to why i got started with creating/using this therapeutic device.

After many years of dealing with countless food allergies, headaches, fatigue etc.. that had gotten worse in recent years , I decided enough is enough and find out WHY. The doctors just kept saying there is nothing wrong and most of the test they do would usually come back normal with the usual things like high cholesterol, elevated liver enzymes etc.. The answer to fixing it was to restrict my diet more!!!
This lead me doing lots of research, looking up every symptom I was having and try find a common cause.

While searching I found a book called Amalgam Illness by Dr Andrew Hall Cutler. This book would described all my symptoms that no doctor could give me answers for (probably because they are the ones that made me sick!!).
This lead me to the conclusion that I had been mercury poisoned by 2 tetanus vaccines and the 9 mercury amalgam fillings(those silver ones) I received from a child and throughout my life..
It was after my very first ever vaccine, tetanus, at 15 years old(1991) that left me with chronic fatague, heart palpitations, food injuiced headaches, unstable blood sugar etc.. for the best of 2 years. It took many years after the shot to realize what actually happened. Doctors would tell me they had no idea of what caused my symptoms, one did suggest maybe its Epstein-Barr virus(EBV). But to have the exact same symptoms 3 days after my 2nd tetanus shot convinced me otherwise.

After this new insight, I then started digging into when new symptoms started and match that to key dates eg.. getting a filling done in 2013(amalgam replaced unsafe and without my knowledge) was the time I stopped being able to eat even more foods and I had left my job 6 months after this date because I could no longer tolerate the chemicals they used.

I now have all my metal fillings removed but that was not without some incompetence by the dentist. This improper/removal process caused me even more mercury poisoning and even more food allergies, awful fatigue etc..

I have been trying to detox mercury with the Andy Cutler Protocol(currently 10 mg ALA+DMSA) but I have been finding it a bit to taxing and that's what brought me into adding another method to assist my detox process.
The Sauna!!!

2020:

Let the sweat begin...

2024:

Progress has been slow but now my sauna sessions are up to 30 min and tolerating 32mg ALA and 16mg DMSA
I have also done another hair test Toxic+Essential Elements to get a better idea where I am at.

Initial design concept

I had first planned to create it out of structural pine(35x70mm), use 2 Foilboard sheets(2700x1200x10mm aluminium lined polystyrene insulation) and aluminum foil tape over the timber/joints.
This would be the ideal shape to keep the area to be heated to a minimum. It does have concerns about the off-gassing from the pine/polystyrene.
Design inspired by other Dr Wilson type saunas.

Final design concept

After seeing some YouTube videos I decided to save my self lots of work and buy a premade enclosure(Hydroponics Grow Tent). The cost was roughly the same as making a timber/foil/foam one.
Size of tent chosen was 120*60*150cm.
The 60cm wide is just enough room for me to rotate and the 120cm long keeps the light at a good distance.
You may need a larger tent to be more comfortable, but I am fine with size at my short 172cm.
3d model is roughly my height and sitting on a 35cm stool.

Alternate setup

I have added some extra concept images to give people different ideas of light setups.

Finished Sauna

Grow Tent 120*60*150cm , 4 Philips 250w Infrared heat lamps. Mounted on timber Oak boards. Wire mesh added to prevent contact with hot bulbs.
The backboard height can be adjusted if needed and the top lamp slides back/forth.
With the original 4 lamp design, sauna would heat up from about 15c to 43c in roughly 10 minutes.

Notes:
The grow tent I used has edges with single stitching(I suspect this is leaking some heat) and missing reinforced corners.
Next time I upgrade/rebuild the sauna I would avoid using the same light sockets. They are of low quality and require some additional work.
I think the small ceramic batten sockets would be my prefered choice and then some type of lampshade socket.

Update

I have created a new mounting/light option to heat up feet/legs better. 5 lights in total. Both top and lower lights are on remote control and can be switched on/off as needed.
I normally only run the lower 4 heat lamps, although on cold days the sauna struggles to get to temp in this configuration, I am still able to sweat in about 10 minutes.
For the top lamp I am using a white infrared heat lamp that is working fine but it will be replaced with red soon(red not available in AU hardware stores).

Heat Lamp Fittings

Light fittings will need the most attention. Below are some suggestions you can use.
I have tried to only list suitable items but you will need to double check suitability. eg. AU plugs, watt, temp etc.

1st option will be a Brooder Clamp Lights, these usually have shrouds and will be ideal but are hard to find/expensive in AU.
These can be mounted to the timber with an L-bracket or a hole saw. Alternatively they can be mounted directly to the steel poles using the 19mm clamps and an L-bracket.

2nd option will be some form of E27 ceramic/bakelite light socket with a lead attached. Either direct batten mount or needs a hole saw.

3rd option is to just buy E27 light sockets. This includes extra fabrication and electrical work(seek a professional).
